Hello and welcome to my blog Googie’s Kitchen Life. My name is Alexis and this is my blog. For those of you that are NEW here then please don’t forget to like and follow this page for lots of FREE recipes and post. I post three times a week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I love to cook and be in my kitchen inventing recipes that I post on this blog. I have always loved food and about four years ago I decided to give up sugar and processed foods. At first it was not an easy road but once I started to think about how to make my favourite foods without the sugar it became easier. I haven’t been back to the processed foods road since.

My blog has been several names since I started about three years ago but I finally feel like this is the name I will stick with. If you are wondering who is Googie, well that would be my name as a child. My dad decided, for some reason all boys should be called Boffin. So when my brother was born he was called Boffin for a short period. Then my Nan decided that if you give one child a nickname you should give the other a nickname. My dad agreed and he asked my Nan what she thought I should be called. My Nan then told my Dad that as a baby I said Googie a lot. So Googie became my pet name for a long time. I actually had to put my foot down before I reached the teenage years to stop everyone calling me by my nickname.

After all those years of complaining about it, I’m once again turning to my childhood nickname. A name that I once thought was so uncool will be part of re branding my social media pages. Although, I still feel as though this name haunted me, it’s quick and easy to remember. When people ask I can say Googie spelt like Boogie.

Plus, I loved to cook as a child and I feel that we should not forget our inner children. Most of the time, childhood was about being carefree and not worrying about life. When we grow up we tend to forget about being free and easy but I’m beginning to remember it again. Since having my son Ted I’ve noticed how he is just Ted and doesn’t seem to care what anyone else thinks. It’s something I admire about children and I’m trying to encourage myself to be more like a child again. I want to care less and laugh more. My inner child also loves to cook and have fun. So that’s what this blog will be about from now on. Food, life and love. That’s all us human being’s need.

Did you have a nickname as a child and if so what was it? Let me know in the comments below and please don’t forget to like and follow me. Thank you and see you all soon.
