
These little bites are rich, naturally sweet, full of warming seasonal spices. And yes, triple dunked in luscious melted chocolate for extra indulgence. They’re simple to make, beautifully Christmassy, and ideal for gifting, snacking, or adding to your holiday dessert table. Let’s dive into this delicious, festive creation! Ingredients
- Dates x 150g
- Cooked chestnuts x 150g
- Mixed Spice x 1 – 2 tsps
- Honey or maple syrup x 1 – 2 tsp (optional)
- Coconut oil x 2 tbsps
- Salt x a pinch or two
- Chocolate x 100g
- Sea salt for the top of the chocolates
Method
- Pre-line a baking sheet with a piece of grease proof paper.
- Remove the stones from the dates and place these in the food processor.
- Add in the cooked chestnuts, mixed spice, honey or maple syrup (optional), coconut oil and salt.
- Blend these ingredients together until a large date ball forms.
- Next remove the blade.
- Dampen your hands under the tap so the mixture doesn’t stick.
- Grab a piece of the mixture and roll into a ball.
- Place the ball onto the pre-lined baking tray.
- Continue until you have used up all of the mixture.
- You may need to dampen your hands a couple of times during this process.
- Once all the mixture has been used place the baking tray into the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, place a saucepan of boiling water on a medium heat on the hob.
- Put the metal bowl on top of the saucepan.
- Break up the bar of chocolate and place it into the pan.
- Let the chocolate completely melt and the remove it from the heat.
- Remove the date balls from the fridge.
- Roll them in the melted chocolate and place back onto the pre-lined baking tray.
- Sprinkle sea salt over the top as you cover each chocolate.
- If you have leftover melted chocolate you can dunk the date balls back into the chocolate two or three times or until it’s all gone.
- Place back into the fridge until the chocolate is hard.
- Then serve and enjoy.
