Now that summer is on the way I felt it was time to roll out the BBQ food. My little family loves burgers. My son Ted was taken to Macdonald’s by a friend. When Ted came home he was still hungry and he told me he didn’t like it.
Ted said the bread tasted stale and they put gherkins in when he asked them not too. To be honest, I was very pleased. Due to my gluten and dairy intolerance and I can’t eat in this fast food chain. Plus Ted said that my burgers were better. My god did this information make me smile.
Normally Ted loves anything I’m not so keen on. Therefore it made me happy to know that my burgers are better. When I served this turkey/chicken burgers I received a huge thumbs from Ted and my husband Howard. Again it made me smile from ear to ear.

- Mixing bowl
- Tablespoon
- Baking tray
Ingredients
- Turkey or chicken mince x 500g
- Onion x 1
- Carrot x 1 small
- BBQ sauce x 2 – 4 tbsps (I use Dr Wills)
- Ground flax seed or bread crumbs x 2 – 4 tbsps
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Peel and grate the courgette.
- Put the courgette in a large mixing bowl and add in the turkey or chicken mince.
- Next peel, slice and dice the onions.
- Then put these in the bowl.
- Add in the BBQ sauce, ground flax seed or bread crumbs and the salt and pepper to taste.
- Using your hands mix these ingredients together.
- Once all the ingredients are well mixed together split the mixture into 4 parts as equally as possible.
- Take a piece of mixture and then make it into a burger shape.
- The mixture may be very wet but don’t worry about it, it will cook into a delicious burger.
- Place the burger onto a plate and make a dimple in the middle with your fingers.
- Put the plate into the fridge and leave for at least a couple of hours or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C or gas mark 4 and put a baking tray in.
- Once the oven is preheated remove the baking tray from the oven.
- Place the burgers into the tray and put the tray into the oven.
- Bake for about 25 – 30 minutes or until the juices run clear from the burger.
- Once cooked remove and serve with chips and salad or a side of your choice.
- Finally enjoy.

BBQ Turkey/Chicken Burgers are now one of our NEW favourite dinners. These burgers were juicy and so tasty. They had a hint of spice that wasn’t to overpowering. These burgers could be made in advance of a meal and frozen. As I mentioned earlier you can also make these burgers the night before and store them in the fridge. Howard and Ted ate these burger in buns with cheese and I had mine plain. However you decide to eat this dish, as always, please enjoy. Thank you xxx
