Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Now I realise that it is summer but I still love my slow cooker at this time of year. The main reason is that I don’t have to stand by the hob and cook dinner. All I simply do is put the ingredients into the slow cooker pot and let in cook. Then at the end of the day I have a hot meal to serve my little family. It’s saves me time and energy. Plus I get a yummy dinner on the table and this one was so tasty.

Serves 4

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Chopping board
  • Vegetable peeler
  • Vegetable grater
  • Slow cooker
  • Tablespoon

Ingredients

  • Beef stewing steak x 500g
  • Onion x 1
  • Courgette x 1
  • Carrot x 1
  • Bone broth x 500mls
  • Green beans x 2 handfuls (optional)
  • Bay leaves x 2
  • Tamari or soy sauce x 1 tbsp
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese and Onion Scones or Rolls x 8

Method

  • Peel, slice and dice the onion and put the diced onion into the slow cooker pot.
  • Next peel and grate the courgette and carrot or you can peel slice and dice as well.
  • Put these ingredients into the slow cooker pot along with the green beans and bay leaves.
  • Add in the beef stewing steak in and pour in the bone broth.
  • Pour in the tamari and soy sauce.
  • Sprinkle over the salt and pepper to taste.
  • Turn the slow cooker onto high for 3 – 4 hours and on low for 7 – 8 hours.
  • During this time bake the cheese and onion scones or rolls if you haven’t made them already.
  • When cooked serve with the cheese and onion scones or rolls and enjoy.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew was a yummy dish that we all enjoyed. One of the best parts about a slow cooker is you can use cheap, chewy meat and it makes it very soft and tender. The beef stewing steak in this stew melted in the mouth and it was so tasty. I made double of this meal and I stored the leftovers in the freezer. We ate them on another occasion and it was just as tasty as the first time, if not better. However you decide to eat this dish, as always, please enjoy. Thank you xxx
