‘Sort of’ Chocolate Spread Smoothie

Even in winter I still enjoy a smoothie. My moto is to eat warmer foods in winter and cooler foods in summer. Then I discovered smoothie bowls and I also discovered how much I missed them in winter. Porridge is a great breakfast but I don’t always want it everyday. That’s when it hit me. I could heat the smoothie through before eating it. That way I wouldn’t miss out on a delicious breakfast. I’m so pleased I did as I thought as this breakfast was a delicious way to kick start my day. I hope it will be for you too.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Saucepan
  • Stirring spoon
  • Bowl

Ingredients

  • Raw cacao powder x 1 tsps
  • Avocado x 1/2
  • Banana x 1
  • Dates x 1 – 2
  • Raspberries or blueberries x 1 handful
  • Hazelnuts x 15- 30 grams
  • Flaxseed x 1 tbsp
  • Chia seeds x 1 tbsp
  • Pumpkin seeds x 1 tbsp
  • Protein powder x 1 scoop (your choice)
  • Spinach x 1 handful
  • Ground sweet cinnamon x 1 tsp (optional)
  • Coconut water or milk x 300mls (of your choice)

Method

  • Place the raw cacao powder, avocado, banana, dates raspberries or blueberries, hazel nuts or nuts of your choice, flaxseed, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, protein powder, spinach, ground sweet cinnamon and coconut water or milk in the blender.
  • Blend all of these ingredients together.
  • Now pour these into a bowl and store in the fridge overnight.
  • If you want to in the morning pour the contents into a saucepan.
  • turn the heat onto a medium to high.
  • Stir the smoothie until it heats through.
  • Pour into a bowl and add extra seeds and fruit.
  • Serve and enjoy.

‘Sort of’ Chocolate Spread Smoothie was so yummy. It was very easy to prepare and cook. All the ingredients in this dish are freezable so you could make this in advance and freeze it. Although you may want to check your protein powder. If it’s a rice based one then this may not be possible. Rice is not great when frozen and defrosted. Please check before you go ahead and make this smoothie. It made a great breakfast but would also make a great afternoon snack too. However you decide to drink this smoothie, as always, please enjoy.
