Southern Spice Prawn Burgers

Equipment

  • Peeler
  • Grater
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Food Processor
  • Baking tray

Ingredients

  • Raw prawns x 500g
  • Courgette x 1 small
  • Almond flour, ground flax seed or breadcrumbs x 4 tbsps
  • Southern spice x 2 tsps
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • Cut the packet of prawns open and drain them through a colander.
  • Peel and grate the courgette.
  • Grab the grated courgette in one hand and squeeze out the excess juice over the sink or into a bowl.
  • Put the prawns into the food processor add in the grated carrot, almond flour, ground flax seed or breadcrumbs, southern spice and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Blend all of these ingredients together.
  • Once these ingredients are blended together split the mixture into eight burgers/patties.
  • The mixture will be very wet but that is normal.
  • Dampen your hand to make the the mixture doesn’t stick to them.
  • Split the mixture into 4 parts and take a piece of that mixture in your hands.
  • Flatten the mixture and shape into a burger.
  • Place on a the plate and put a dimple in the burger.
  • Repeat the process for the for the rest of the mixture.
  • Store the plate in the fridge for up to 2 hours or overnight.
  • When ready to cook the burgers preheat the oven to 200°C or gas mark 6.
  • Put a baking tray into the oven as well.
  • Once the oven has preheated spread oil over the base of the baking tray if necessary.
  • Put the burgers onto the baking tray.
  • Place the baking tray into the oven.
  • Cook for 6 minutes or until the prawn burgers turn pink and slightly golden brown.
  • Then serve with chips and a side of your choice.
  • Finally enjoy.
