Equipment
- Sharp knife
- Chopping board
- Large mixing bowl
- Teaspoon
- Baking tray
- Grease proof paper
- Stirring spoon or wooden spoon
- Mason jar
Ingredients
- Oats x 200g
- Almonds x 100g
- Pecans x 100g
- Chia seeds x 50g
- Cinnamon x 1 tsp
- Raw cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder x 3 tbsps
- Salt x 1/4 tsps
- Coconut oil x 120g
- Maple syrup x 120g
- Sour cherries x 100g
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C or gas mark 5.
- Start by chopping the almonds and pecans into small pieces if not chopped already.
- To the large mixing bowl add the oats, chopped almonds and pecans, chia seeds, cinnamon, raw cacao powder and salt.
- Mix these ingredients together.
- Melt the coconut oil if not soft already.
- Pour the melted coconut oil and maple syrup over the oat mixture.
- Stir these ingredient in until all everything is well coated.
- Spread a piece of baking paper across the base of the baking tray.
- Now spread the mixture over the baking tray as evenly as possible.
- Once the oven has preheated place the baking tray into the oven and bake for 24 – 30 minutes.
- Every 8 – 10 minutes remove the tray and turn the granola over.
- Then put the tray back into the oven and repeat this process once more.
- When the granola is a lovely golden brown colour remove from the oven and leave to cool completely.
- Once it has cooled add in the sour cherries and store in an airtight jar.
- Serve with yoghurt or milk or with stewed fruit.
- Then enjoy.
