Flat Oven Baked Mince Beef Salad

Flat Oven Baked Mince Beef Salad

My husband Howard, son Ted and I love a burger. I think we could eat a burger most evenings. When I saw this flat mince beef recipe on a YouTube short I knew I had to try it. It looked easy and very tasty. I decided to add the herbs and spices for a little extra flavour. The beef tastes just like a flat burger which is chewy. We loved it and it’s a recipe we will be having again soon.

Do you love a burger and if so, what burgers do you enjoy the most? Let me know in the comments below and please don’t forget to like and follow me.

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Sharp knife
  • Chopping board
  • Teaspoon
  • Greaseproof paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Large salad bowl
  • Small mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • Mince beef x 500g
  • Onion powder x 1 – 2 tsp
  • Garlic powder x 1 – 2 tsp
  • Dried oregano x 1 – 2 tsp
  • Quinoa x 300g
  • Chicken or vegetable stock or bone broth x 600mls
  • Rocket x 2 handfuls or a salad leaf of your choice
  • Tomatoes x 2 handfuls
  • Cucumber x 1/4
  • Olive oil x 2 tbsp
  • Tamari x 1 tbsp
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • Start by measuring two centimetres on a wooden spoon.
  • Measure your quinoa and pour it into the sieve.
  • Wash the quinoa through twice under a tap.
  • Put the washed rice into a saucepan.
  • Flatten the rice down as much as possible until it’s all even spread across the base of the pan.
  • Place the wooden soup on top of the quinoa.
  • Now carefully pour over the water until it’s level with the line on the spoon.
  • The water should be 2 centimetres above the above the top of the quinoa.
  • Next put the hob on to a high heat and bring the water to the boil.
  • Put the lid on and once it boils turn the heat down to a low simmer.
  • Leave to cook for 20 – 30 minutes.
  • Do not remove the lid during the cooking process.
  • When the water looks like it has been absorbed by the quinoa then lift the lid.
  • Give the rice a stir and if there is still water in the bottom pop the lid back on for five more minutes.
  • Continue to do this until all the water has evaporated.
  • Remove the lid completely and give the quinoa a stir.
  • Set aside for a few minutes.
  • Prepare the main dish and add the quinoa.
  • Place the rocket into the large mixing bowl.
  • Slice the tomatoes in half and add them to the rocket.
  • Next cut the cucumber lengthways into quarters and then slice the quarters.
  • Put the cucumber into the bowl and add the quinoa on top.
  • Mix these ingredients together and set to one side.
  • Remove all the packaging from the mince beef and leave to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Place the mince beef into the large mixing bowl.
  • Add in the onion powder, garlic granules and dried oregano.
  • Sprinkle over salt and pepper to taste.
  • Scrunch these ingredients together until everything is well mixed together.
  • Cut two pieces of large greaseproof paper from the roll.
  • Put the mince beef on one piece of the paper.
  • Place the other sheet on top and roll the mince beef out until about 1/2 centimetre thick.
  • Now put the rolled out beef onto the large baking sheet and remove the top piece of baking paper.
  • Place the tray in the oven and bake for about 25 – 30 minutes.
  • The beef will shrink but it will make it taste so yummy.
  • Add the oil and tamari in a small bowl.
  • Then sprinkle in salt and pepper to taste.
  • Mix these ingredients together.
  • Put the quinoa on top of the salad.
  • Toss these ingredients together.
  • Cut the beef into quarters and the into four strips.
  • Serve the quinoa and add the beef on top.
  • Then enjoy.
Flat Oven Baked Mince Beef Salad

Flat Oven Baked Mince Beef Salad were delicious. It was a very easy dish to prepare and cook. The meat could be rolled out the day before and store in the fridge. Or on the morning you want to make it too. If you have a refrigerator big enough. Plus it makes delicious leftovers too. That’s if your family leave you any for lunch the next day. (Thanks Ted). It would also make a delicious snack for a packed lunch and would freeze well too. However you decide to eat this dish, as always, please enjoy. Thank you xxx
