
On a cold Autumn evening nothing beats a bowl of creamy mash topped with rich, smoky BBQ Beef mince. My husband Howard, son Ted and I love mash. Especially in the colder months. This recipe is hearty, full of flavour and the perfect dish for busy Autumn days when you want a dinner that’s homely with minimal effort. We really enjoy this meal and we hope you will too. Equipment
- Small bowl
- Tablespoon
- Sharp knife
- Chopping board
- Vegetable peeler
- Vegetable grater
- Baking tray
- Large mixing bowl
Ingredients
- BBQ Sauce x 2 tbsps (I used Dr Wills but this is optional)
- Honey x 2 tbsps
- Tamari x 2 tbsps
- Mince beef x 500g
- Chicken stock or bone broth x 200mls
- Onion x 1
- Courgette x 1
- Carrot x 1
- Red pepper x 1
- Coriander x 1 handful
- Spinach x 1 handful
- Potatoes x 800g
- Butter x 2 knobs
- Olive oil x 2 tbsps
- Milk x a splash
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Peel and grate the courgette and courgette.
- Next peel the onion and slice and dice it.
- Set this ingredient to one side.
- In a small mixing bowl pour in the BBQ sauce, honey and tamari.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Mix these ingredients together and set aside.
- Put the mince beef into the slow cooker pot.
- Break it up with a spoon and pour over the chicken stock or bone broth.
- Then add in BBQ sauce mix, grated courgette, courgette, carrot, red pepper, onion and salt and pepper to taste.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker pot.
- Turn the pot onto low for 5 – 6 hours or high for 2 – 3 hours.
- Meanwhile preheat the oven to 200°C or gas mark 6.
- Wash and pierce the potatoes with a knife.
- Place them into a baking tray.
- Once the oven has preheated put the tray in and bake for an hour.
- When the potatoes are soft all the way through remove from the oven.
- Leave to cool until touchable.
- Then slice the potatoes in half and scoop the flesh from the skins.
- Discard the skins or feed them to the birds.
- Add butter, oil and a splash of milk to the potatoes.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Now mash these ingredients together and set aside.
- Slice the spinach and coriander.
- Remove the lid from the slow cooker pot and put the spinach and coriander in.
- Let it wilt down and then serve the BBQ Beef with the mash.
- Then enjoy.

Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Mince and Mash has quickly become a family favourite. It’s very easy to prepare and cook. Plus it can be frozen as well.
