Hot and Sweet Pork Chops

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Chopping board
  • Large mixing bowl.
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Deep sided oven proof dish

Ingredients

  • Pork chops x 500g
  • Tomato puree x 2 tbsps
  • Honey x 2 tbsps
  • Tamari x 2 tbsps
  • Mild or hot chili powder x 1 tsp
  • Smoked paprika x 1 tsp
  • Onion granules x 1 tsp
  • Garlic granules x 1 tsp
  • Cayenne pepper x 1/2 – 1 tsp
  • Dried mixed herbs x 1 tsp
  • Chicken stock x 500mls
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Method

  • Cut slights in the fat of the pork chops about half an inch thick and apart.
    • It will stop the chops from curling in the oven.
  • In the mixing bowl add the chops, tomato puree honey, tamari, mild or hot chili powder, smoked paprika, onion granules, garlic granules, cayenne pepper, dried mixed herbs and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Rub all of these ingredients into the pork chops.
  • Next pour over the chicken stock and leave to marinade in the fridge for a couple of hours or more or overnight.
  • When ready to cook the pork chops preheat the oven to 200°C or gas mark 6.
  • Place the pork chops into a deep sided baking dish and add in the chicken stock as well.
  • Put the dish into the preheated oven and cook for about 25 – 30 minutes or until the fat is a golden brown colour.
  • Remove and leave to rest for 5 – 10 minutes.
  • Then serve with potatoes or rice and vegetables.
  • Finally enjoy.
