
hen I would eat Chinese takeaways a beef stir fry would normally be at the top of my list. The beef in this sort of stir fry would always be steak or a meat that was similar. Never have I ever seen a mince beef stir fry on a takeaway menu. My husband Howard isn’t a big steak fan so I decided to make a stir fry with mince beef. The result of this experiment were so good I really had to share the recipe with you. Below is a video and recipe for you.

Equipment
- Mixing bowl
- Sharp knife
- Chopping board
- Wok or large saucepan
Ingredients
- Mince Beef x 500g
- Spring Onions x 1 bunch
- Water chestnuts x 1 240g tin
- Bamboo shoots x 1 240g tin
- Red pepper x 1
- Green beans x 1 handful
- Bone broth x 500ml
- Tomato puree x 1 tbsp
- Tamari x 1 tbsp
- Apple cider vinegar x 1 tbsp
- Coconut sugar or honey x 1 tbsp
- Ground ginger x 1 tsp
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Pour the bone broth into a measuring jug.
- Add in the tomato puree, tamari, apple cider vinegar, coconut sugar or honey, ground ginger and salt and pepper to taste.
- Set to one side and continue to cook the turkey or chicken mince.
- Cut the tops and the bottoms from the spring onions.
- Then slice into 1/2 centimetre pieces.
- Slice the top from the red pepper and remove the core and the stalk.
- Slice the flesh and set to one side.
- Remove the lid from the water chestnuts and bamboo shoots.
- Drain the water from the tins.
- Put a wok or large pan onto a high heat and add oil to the base of the pan.
- When the wok or pan is hot fry the spring onion until they start to soften.
- Add in the beef mince and fry until it turns golden brown all over.
- Now add in the pepper, water chestnuts and green beans.
- Then fry these for a further few minutes.
- Leave to heat through for a few moments.
- Pour over the sauce and leave to heat through for a minute or so.
- Cook the rice or noodles as per the packet instructions.
- Finally serve and enjoy.

Mince Beef Stir Fry was a huge hit in our house. It was an easy but very tasty meal to cook. Plus it didn’t cost the earth and took a little time to prepare and cook.
