Welcome to another delicious day in our 24 Days of Christmas guide! Today we’re giving Brussels sprouts the festive spotlight they truly deserve. These Baked Brussels in Tamari are rich, savoury, and wonderfully moreish. The tamari transforms a humble winter vegetable into a dish that’s packed with umami flavours and holiday warmth. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a beautifully caramelised tamari glaze, this recipe is the perfect side to elevate any Christmas feast. Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Chopping board
  • Baking tray

Ingredients

  • Brussel sprouts x 500g
  • Tamari x 1 tbsp
  • Olive oil x 2 tbsp plus enough to drizzle over the sprouts.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C or gas mark 5.
  • Cut the bottoms from the Brussel sprouts and slice in half.
  • Put the sliced brussels into the baking tray.
  • Drizzle over the olive oil and add salt and pepper to your taste.
  • Toss all of these ingredients together in the baking tray.
  • Place in the oven for about 20 – 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • While the sprouts are in the oven pour the tamari and olive oil into a small bowl.
  • Once the sprouts are starting to turn golden brown remove from the oven.
  • Pour over the tamari mixture and toss those ingredients together.
  • Put the sprouts back into the oven for a further 5 – 10 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  • Remove and serve with a roast dinner of your choice.
  • Then enjoy.
