Let’s Bake Bread

Let’s Bake Bread

Before I moved in with my husband Howard he was living by himself and Howard, in his wisdom, decided to buy a bread machine. For those of you that don’t know, Howard loves a bakery and all of the items that are baked in it. Howard felt that buying a bread machine would be a good idea. It also meant that he wouldn’t need to move into a bakery either!

Gifts from Grandpa is my NEW recipe book – out NOW and available to buy on Amazon for only £19.99. Plus £1 from the sale of each book will go to Crisis the homeless charity.

Howards excuse for buying this machine was he thought it would be nice to wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread. When I moved in we used this machine lot. Then as a lot of machines do it found it’s way to the back of the cupboard never to be seen again. Well until now!

Recently my son Ted had a rash on his arm. I decided to send his hair off for testing. Hair testing can help with food allergies and what foods are best for your body. Ted’s test came back and the results showed that white bread, rice and pasta aren’t to good for Ted right now. It may change in time but for now we have cut these items and a few more out of his diet.

Ted needs higher protein and fats and less refined carbs. Therefore we needed to cut out the white sourdough and find an alternative. We went to the supermarket but there isn’t a lot of choice. I decided to bring out the bread machine and start making our own again. Plus I can now eat the wholemeal bread I bake as well.

To be honest, I am pleased we have dug out the bread machine again. Whenever I read packets for loaves of bread in the shops it’s always full of ingredients that I can’t pronoun. When making a loaf in the bread machine I add ingredients we have in the fridge and that is it. It makes me happy to know I’m not eating nor feeding my little family any food nasties. Ted’s rash has disappeared and Howard is happy to wake up again to the smell of fresh bread too.

It’s not an advert for bread machines but if you want to know which one we have it’s a Panasonic. The machine makes a variety of breads and even cakes too. Do you make your own bread and if so, what’s your favourite loaf to make? Let me know in the comments below and please don’t forget to like and follow me. Thank you xxx
