At Christmas I love to make friends and relatives gifts. Every year I try to think of a new gift to give. This year I thought I would make chocolate bark. Until a few weeks ago I had never made this dish. Therefore I thought I would give it a try. I have tested it on my little family and it has there seal of approval. So I thought I would share this delicious gift with you too. I have to warn you it’s that good you may not want to give it away. Below is a video and recipe for you.

- Medjool dates x 8 – 10
- Hot water x enough to cover the dates
- Dark chocolate x 100g
- Pecans x 1 handful
- Ground sweet cinnamon x 1 tsp
- Ground ginger x 1 tsp
- Ground netmeg x 1/4 tsp
- Ground cloves x 1/4 tsp
Method
- Remove the stones from the dates and place into a large mixing bowl.
- Once all the stones are removed pour over the hot water and leave for 5 minutes.
- While the dates are soaking put the large metal bowl on top of the saucepan and add hot water to the base.
- Put the pan and bowl on the hob and turn it onto a medium heat.
- Break up the chocolate and put it into the metal bowl.
- Stir the chocolate until it starts to melt.
- Once it has melted set to one side.
- Drain the dates through the colander over the sink.
- When the water has been drained put the dates into a blender and add a little water.
- Blender these ingredients together.
- If it is not blending add a little more water until it starts to blend.
- It doesn’t matter if it’s not smooth as along as it’s blended slightly.
- Pour the contents of the blender into the large mixing bowl.
- Add in the melted chocolate.
- Sprinkle over the ground sweet cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg and ground cloves.
- Roughly chop the pecans and then add these to the large mixing bowl.
- Stir all of these ingredients together and set to one set.
- Line the bottom of a loaf tin with greaseproof paper.
- Spread the chocolate mixture as evenly as you can to the base of the tin.
- Put the mixture into the fridge for at least six hours or preferably overnight.
- Once the chocolate is solid cut it into squares.
- Then serve and enjoy.

Christmas Spiced Chocolate Bark has been a big hit with my little family. It’s that good I may not be able to give any away. It’s an easy dish to prepare and put together. As I mentioned earlier it would make a great gift for a friend or relative. You will need to store it in the fridge before gifting it.It would also make a lovely snack or even better it could make a yummy after dinner treat too. However you decide to eat this meal, as always, please enjoy. Thank you xxx
