Chocolate, Date and Cashew Easter Truffles

Before giving up processed foods and sugar I have to admit I had a chocolate addiction. Yes, hi, my name’s Alexis and I am a chocolate addict. I know there are worse things in life to be addicted to, but at a certain period in my life, not a day would go by without me having to eat chocolate.

There would always be a chocolate bar lying in the fridge and I would always have at least a couple of squares every day. Thankfully when I gave up sugar and processed foods I decided to knock the chocolate addiction on the head too. It was hard at first but I after a few days I didn’t even notice I wasn’t eating it.

Although I do still love chocolate, nowadays when I want to indulge in my favourite guilty pleasure I will make it myself. So this Easter instead of an egg I have made myself these delicious chocolates. When I first started writing my blog I made date balls. They were so delicious but I have never made them with melted chocolate before. I’m so pleased I have done it now as the truffles will be a great treat this Easter.


Chocolate, Date and Cashew Easter Truffles
  • Sharp Knife
  • Chopping Board
  • Tablespoon
  • Food processor
  • Storage bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Teaspoon


  • Dates x 10 – 12
  • Cashew nut butter x 150g
  • Coconut oil or ghee (if not vegan) x 2 tbsp
  • Coconut cream x 2 tbsp
  • 100% dark chocolate or dark chocolate x 100g
  • Maca powder x 2 tsp (optional)
  • Ground cinnamon x 1 – 2 tsp (optional)
  • Raw cacao powder x 2 tbsp


  • Start by removing the stones from the dates and put them into the food processor.
  • Melt down the coconut oil and chocolate in the saucepan.
  • Now add the melted oil and chocolate to the processor.
  • Then add to the processor along with the cashew nut butter, maca powder (optional) and cinnamon (optional).
  • Blend these ingredients together.
  • Once blended put into the bowl.
  • Store in the fridge for a few hours or preferably overnight.
  • Put the raw cacao powder on a plate.
  • Remove from the fridge and with the teaspoon scoop up a small amount of the truffle mixture.
  • Next roll into a ball between your hands.
  • Now roll the truffle in the raw cacao powder.
  • Repeat the process until all the filling has been used.
  • Store in an airtight container until ready to eat.

Chocolate, Date and Cashew Truffles were simple and easy to do. They would make a brilliant present for a friend or relative. The truffles are also great to eat as a guilty pleasure or a sweet treat. They are also great to make with children as well. It’s a good way to get children to try new foods. All of the ingredients are freezable but they will keep in the fridge for two to three weeks. However you decide to eat these chocolates, as always, enjoy.
